The way we ask questions often determines the type of answer we receive. If we ask questions that are perceived as intimidating or attacking (i.e. “Why did that happen or why did you do that?”) we usually get a defensive response. However, if the questions can focus on the strengths of the person you’re asking, it’s amazing the positive results we can receive (i.e. “What kind of support do you need to assure success or what is working well with this process?”)
Make sure, as questions are asked at home or at work, that the questions are approached in a positive-oriented manner. These positive questions allow relationships to be a good experience for all those involved.
